Teddy
enters the closet and finds a bunch of Gimmick's odd inventions,
including Anti-Glue that won't stick to anything, and an "automatic
ball" with a wind up device. The ball bounces around and Teddy hides in
the closet. Grubby comes looking for Teddy. Grubby wonders what has
been taking Teddy so long, as they need to go pick strawberries.
Grubby
asks Gimmick about what appears to be a new invention. Gimmick explains that his new invention could make
a single strawberry big enough to feed people for weeks.
Gimmick
gets overly involved explaining the specifics of his new
invention, and in the meantime the strawberry becomes so big it forces
the trio out of the house. In
the chaos, Gimmick loses his glasses in the yard. While the trio are
outside, the strawberry rolls around Gimmick's valley. Teddy finds
Gimmick's glasses, and explains that the worry is finally over as the
strawberry has rolled over a cliff.
Grubby
decides picking a lot of strawberries by hand is a much better idea
than making one larger.
Meanwhile, Tweeg and LB
are going down the road (LB pulling of course) while Tweeg reads a book
titled
"So, You Want to be a Villain?"
Some of the rules are
"Always
Wear Black"
"Never
Ever Brush Your Teeth"
"Whenever
Possible, Tell Lies"
Grubby and Teddy
encounter Fobs who are very angry after apparently losing all of their
color. One fob says he's fine, but Teddy remarks he too looks a little
duller than usual. Grubby wonders if they are getting dull because they
are getting old, the Fobs inform Grubby they are only 3 and 4, and are
way too young to be going gray.
LB stops the wagon and
Tweeg demands to know why. LB tells Tweeg about a "Giant Red thing" up
ahead and wonders aloud if he may be related to it.
Grubby grabs a
strawberry and with it's juices begins coloring in the fobs. They enjoy
it and are happy at first, until they begin feeling sticky and notice
that they are attracting flies.
QUOTE:
TWEEG-
"Move this wagon now you hopping mouth"
The Strawberry then
falls from above right onto the wagon.
QUOTE-
LB-
"Now that's what I call getting your just desserts"
Teddy remarks that maybe they
should take the Fobs up to rainbow falls to get them washed off. The
Fobs inform Teddy that Rainbow falls has no water. The Fobs and Teddy
figure out that the fobs began losing their color when the water dried
up.
QUOTE-
TWEEG- "LB
you Talking Tomato, where are you?"
Teddy and Grubby begin climbing
up Rainbow falls to find out what's wrong with the water. The device
they rig to get to the top fails, and Grubby decides to ask Wooly to
climb to the top instead
Tweeg is reading about
becoming an apprentice MAVO member, one prerequisite is "Get Even with
Someone"
Wooly climbs up to the
top of rainbow falls and unclogs a giant rock that was stuck in the
falls... releasing a gush of rainbow water back to the ground below....
the Fobs happily dive in and quickly regain their marvelous colors.

REVIEW:
A great episode... the banter between Tweeg and LB is at it's best, and
Tweeg being pummeled by a giant strawberry when he's being so
difficult is, as LB so aptly put it, "Just desserts".
The reason I like the episode best though is the subtle yet very sweet
message we are given about Friendship... It was really none of Teddy or
Grubby's concern that the fobs were losing their colors but because
they considered them friends, Teddy and Grubby were determined to help
the Fobs find a solution to what was certainly a profound psychological
problem in losing all of their color (and in turn their unique
identities related to their bright colors)
The outpouring
of friendship continues when Wooly takes a break from his nap to climb
the falls when Teddy and Grubby's best efforts fail. This was really
the simple yet profound message of Teddy Ruxpin's universe at
it's best... be a good friend.. do your best... use your
imagination.
